A theatrical reading marking 25 years since Fabrizio De André’s passing and 110 years since Edgar Lee Masters published «Spoon River».
William, a traveller in search of meaning, weaves through the songs of De André’s «Non al denaro, non all’amore, né al cielo» and Masters’ poems — a fusion of the particular and the universal, the characters speaking through music and poetry.
Not only a tribute to De André and Lee Masters, but a work that speaks, across many themes, to different generations and sensibilities.
Every performer is musician, narrator and singer.
The result is a rich, varied world in form and nuance. The small individual stories of men and women converge into a universal picture, up to a surprising finale that binds the opening mystery and the narrative threads into a collective epiphany. The text is published by Phronesis Editore.
